Aisha's POV
His words echoed in my mind.
"If you lay with me, I'll recover faster."
I told myself it was just for the sake of the patient. That was all. Nothing more.
But then why was my heart pounding like a war drum?
I hesitated, my fingers gripping the sheets as I slowly lay beside him, careful not to jostle his wound. But before I could even settle, his arm wrapped around me, pulling me flush against him.
I gasped, my body stiffening. "Simon—"
"Shh." His voice was low, coaxing, brushing against my skin like the whisper of a storm. "Just for a moment."
His warmth enveloped me, his scent, dark pine and musk clouding my senses. My resolve wavered.
This was dangerous.
I should push him away. I shouldn't want this.
But when his lips brushed mine, tentative at first, testing. I didn't move. And when he pressed deeper, his hands tracing gentle patterns along my back, my body melted into him.
