Amelia's eyes were red from crying. She held Emily tightly in her arms, looking aggrieved and helpless as she glanced at George kneeling beside her, softly sobbing his name.
Evelyn walked straight up to them, her heels clicking sharply on the marble floor.
Standing tall, she stared down at Emily slumped in Amelia's arms. When she noticed the faint tremble in Emily's lashes, her lips curled into a deeper smirk.
"Evelyn, what more do you want? Don't come any closer!" Amelia's voice quivered with fear, clutching Emily like Evelyn was some untamed beast about to pounce.
Without saying a word, Evelyn moved fast—before Amelia could react, a glass of champagne flew toward Emily.
"Ah—!"
Emily, still lying limply, felt the sting of alcohol splash against her face. The sharp coldness made her flinch.
Her eyes flew open and she screamed, her cover completely blown.
Before she could respond, Evelyn grabbed a nearby glass of red wine and threw it at her again.
