Jacob gave a slight shake of his head and stayed quiet—this wasn’t the kind of business a servant should get involved in.
Claire Moore arrived at the café not long after. It was pretty quiet at this hour; barely anyone showed up, just the occasional person popping in for dessert. That suited her just fine. Fewer people meant less chance of being noticed.
By the time Flynn Turner showed up, Claire had already been waiting for almost half an hour, and her patience was running on fumes. The moment she saw him, she cut straight to the point. “Where is it?”
“Whoa, no need to rush,” Flynn said casually as he plopped down in the seat, completely unfazed, as if he wasn’t getting paid for this job.
He waited for the server to bring over the coffee, took a sip, and only then slowly reached into his bag and pulled out a file, holding it out to her.
“Hold up. Didn’t Miss Moore forget something?” Flynn teased as he tugged the file back just a bit before she could grab it.
