Chapter 27 Wishing Badly for Her Death
The policemen in the interrogation room exchanged glances.
About 15 minutes later, Cressida was getting into Luther's car.
He hadn't put her in handcuffs, but there were two plainclothes policemen following them in another car at a reasonable distance.
As soon as the engine started, the car sped off with a screeching of tires.
Luther floored the accelerator and hurtled into the night.
The atmosphere in the car was so tense that it felt difficult to breathe inside.
"Do you wish so badly for her death?" Luther asked, breaking the silence.
He was looking at the road ahead instead of at Cressida.
Cressida turned to look out the window. The city's neon lights flashed past the window in a blur of light and shadow.
"I never wished for anyone's death," she replied.
"Why did you do all this then?" Luther yelled.
He suddenly spun the steering wheel, causing the car to make an abrupt turn. Cressida slammed heavily into the car door from the momentum.
