Aisha's POV
A dull ache pulsed behind my eyes as I slowly regained consciousness. My limbs felt like lead, my body drained of every ounce of strength. The sterile scent of the pack hospital filled my nose, and the soft beeping of a monitor hummed in the background.
The first thing I saw when my vision cleared was Emma sitting beside me, her wide, worried eyes fixed on my face.
"You're awake," she signed, relief flooding her expression.
I struggled to sit up, but a sharp wave of dizziness made me wince. Then, as my mind sharpened, panic set in.
"Simon," I croaked, my throat dry. "Has he woken up?"
She hesitated, then shook her head.
My heart plummeted.
I tried to push myself upright again, ignoring the way my arms trembled, but she quickly pressed a firm hand against my shoulder, stopping me.
"You need to rest," she signed firmly.
But how could I rest when Simon was still unconscious? It was all my fault that he was in that position.
